Filmmaker
My primary passion is as a writer and director of movies.
With a body of work consisting of narrative shorts and music videos, I am largely self-educated and have developed my technique and style on scrappy, independently-produced shoots. I love the collaborative nature of film work, and have a deep interest in genre, spectacle, and intimate human connection.
I am also a writer with numerous as-yet-unproduced scripts, and a feature I would like to produce within the next few years. If you’d like to hear more about that, please let me know.
Below you can see a small selection of some favorite works from the past few years.
Directing Reel
It was really a pleasure to get to edit together some favorite shots and moments from my previous film projects. If you like anything you see here, keep looking through the gallery!
The Last Stand of Bobby Coe
This labor of love was written for the two lead actors, Art and Emily, and shot behind an Airbnb in the New Mexican desert. A thrill to work in the Western genre with a Chicago/Albuquerque crew, including frequent collaborator DP Jana McLain. I also play a baddie at the end!
Please Try to Leave Something There
This wonderfully wry tune by my friend, singer-songwriter Vicious Dunk, inspired a project that fulfilled my lifelong dream of shooting a true one-shot music video. What you see here is genuinely Take 6, just like it says on the slate in the beginning.
Anniversary
In the summer of 2020, with any large-group production off the table, I conceived and shot this silent film with just me, the actors, and a camera op, then set it to an original composition by another fave musician, Perfect Posture. It’s also a love letter to my neighborhood.
Ned’s 1-Second-Everyday (2021-22)
I use the app 1 Second Everyday, which does exactly what it sounds like. So far, I have recorded 6 years - or thirty-six and a half minutes - of daily seconds. Here’s Year 6.
